Minutes, Correspondence, and Reports 1970-1985.

This series comprises minutes, correspondence, articles, and reports pertaining to The American Lutheran Church's (TALC) involvement in ministry with the Lutheran Church of Australia. They were retained by the office of the Secretary for South Asia, South Pacific, and Madagascar of the Division for World Mission and Inter-Church Cooperation (DWMIC) and are from 1970-1975. Records types include typewritten business correspondence, printed meeting minutes, printed topical articles, typewritten topical and progress reports, and Lutheran-related publications. Subject matter relates to two areas of ministry in which TALC and the Lutheran Church of Australia cooperated: mission work in Papua New Guinea, and a program where TALC pastors were placed in congregations of the Lutheran Church of Australia. The minutes are from the Board of Overseas Missions of the Lutheran Church of Australia, but the bulk of the records is correspondence between TALC and the Lutheran Church of Australia. Primary authors of the correspondence include the Rev. Duane S. Olson and the Rev. Jack F. Reents from the Secretary for South Asia, South Pacific, and Madagascar, the Rev. Morris J. Sorenson Jr., Executive Director, DWMIC, and the Rev. Lowell Hestermann, Assistant Director, DWMIC.
